Best Paints for the job, Dulux Diamond Paint, definitions, costs, VOCs, and other tips.

Hello,

I’ve just received the new 2023, Dulux price list. And the good news is, prices have risen by only 6%.

This means I won’t need to raise my prices, as I can absorb that 6%.

It’s 6% increase on materials, but as materials are only 15% of the contract price it’s only 6% of 15, which is less than 1% on the overall contract price.

Not wishing to confuse you with percentages but that’s how services and retailers can withhold passing on cost increases in times of inflation.

What a blessing the ability to think in percentages.

So this is my first 2023 contribution to national positivity and Happy New Year!

Twenty, twenty three has a nicer ring to it than the other recent years we’ve put behind us.

I wanted to talk to you today about new paint products and the Dulux Diamond range, particularly. The Diamond range are very durable paints and they come in a different finishes.

E.G: Matt finish for walls and Eggshell and Satinwood for woodwork.

The extra durability comes at a higher price, but hey, that’s why we pay more for a Volkswagen than something else. It’s not that much more so if you just think, Diamond, as in durability rather than cost of a diamond.

It’s well worth it if you have children and dogs or family members who carom off walls.

Dulux also do this durable Diamond paint in their Airsure range. But before I lose you, here are some definitions:

AIRSURE range – wall emulsion paints that not only offer great performance but are also 99.9% VOC Free*, helping to minimise the impact on indoor air quality**.

Diamond range -Tough durable matt finish. Contains Scuff, Scrub and Stain Resistant Technology.

VOC: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands.

Organic chemicals are widely used as ingredients in household products. Paints, varnishes and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting, cosmetic, degreasing and hobby products. Fuels are made up of organic chemicals. All of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored.

I lifted that VOC definition from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency in the USA.) website and was reluctant to post it for fear of giving someone cyberchondria.

Oh… cyberchondria, means;  internet induced hypochondria- from the looking up a disease on the internet and then feeling you have all the symptoms.

But if its too late and you’re mentally feeling those VOC’s already, then Dulux has the answer in their 99.9% VOC free, Airsure range.

The durable Diamond finish is available in the Airsure range of paints too. These are Dulux’s highest cost indoor paints, but what a pleasure it will be to sit in your VOC free, durable finish, living room.

Just keep all the other VOC exuding products mentioned above, stored with the lids firmly on, preferably, in the shed, not under the sink.

Wishing you a fabulous 2023

Joe
